What you should do after ditching IE

For years, the internet had been dominated by one piece of junk software: The Microsoft Internet Explorer (Or IE as I and lots of other people like to call it). The time has come that we get something better than that dumpy browser. I am pretty sure that most of you have heard of:

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.9.11| Free ware| web tools, web browsers|

"The diamond of web browsers!"

Firfox was first developed by two guys in a company called Mozilla as an experimental branch of the company. And also as an improvement to the Mozilla Suite web browser, an all-in-one application ranging from an e-mail client to web browser to a HTML editor. Mozilla suite is now known as SeaMonkey.

Version 0.8 was released in 2004 and Firefox quickly rose to the position of the "The joker that poked the tyrant in the eye" ("Tyrant" refers to Microsoft and IE)

Version 2.0.9.11 (Gosh, I hate these long product numbers!) has all the features of Firefox that I love and cherish.

These include Firefox's incredible security features. Because of Firefox, the only ad-ware and spy-ware that I get are those idiotic cookies from stupid sites!

Tabbed browsing is great and you can have the entire web in a single window, especially with the help of great add-onns like Tab Mix Plus (Must have!) Firefox comes with a sweet download manager that is perfect for power-downloaders. Bookmarking is very effective and Firefox comes with a bookmark toolbar with which you can access your favorites with a single click. I also love the spell-check and helps me avoid stupid mistakes like "si" instead of "is"

And, on top of my list is efficiency. Once I became used to the excellent Gecko powered engine used by Firefox, I started to find IE seriously sluggish. Firefox is recommended for those with a narrow bandwidth.

But above all, I find the database of Firefox extensions and themes seriously attractive. The Mozilla database, available at http://addons.mozilla.org/ consists of 2,000 extensions maintained by a very devoted community. You can find extension for everybody, from a IT nobody that just knows how to click to extensions to suit the needs for head-programmers of big software companies.

Firefox is on my list of "The best things that ever happened to my computer". The only problem is that it might be taking a bit too much space with it's cache functions and add-ons. But still, there are better reason to give it this nice little rating:

Welcome to X369

Welcome to X369, a blog that is dedicated to review good and not so good software.

"Good" software should meet the following demands,

(i) Neat and tidy interface, with some space for looks

(ii) Efficiency: It should be fast and prevent us from becoming victims of impatience.

(iii) It should be flexible, meeting to our ever-changing needs.

(iiii) It should be unique and not a rip-off.

Please leave comments on more software to review. That'd a be great service to this blog!
